Wix Editor Stuck On Loading Screen And Fix

I enjoy building websites on Wix. But I hate it when Wix gives me problems that I have no clue about how to fix.

One of those problems is that the Wix editor stuck on the loading screen. The loading animation keeps playing for 30 mins. And I still don’t see my website.

It took me a couple of hours to figure out the solution below.

1. What causes the Wix editor to stuck on loading screen

The cause was that my browser could not access social media websites like Pinterest and Facebook. I figured this out by running the debugger on Chrome. Take a look at the screenshot below. Most of the errors in red are linked to Pinterest and Facebook.

Social media erros when Wix Editor stuck

I had this issue because I ran the self-control app. It helps me stay focused, but it causes this issue at the same time. I disable the app and everything works great again. Magical!

If you don’t have any self-control app running on your computer, then your internet connection doesn’t allow you to access social media sites. This is usually the case when you are on a work laptop or use a regulated company network.

2. The solution

The solution is simple if you have a self-control app running on your computer. Just disable the app..

The solution becomes more complex if your network blocks the social media sites. The easiest solution is to contact your network administrators. They have the power to unblock the access for you.

In case those administrators are unable to do so because of the company policy, then you need to deploy the following solution. Basically, you must install a VPN app on your computer and your browser. You run the VPN app whenever you work on the Wix Editor. Take a look at the Youtube video below.

Use VPN to access Wix Editor

If you are not familiar with the term “VPN”, I can explain it. There is a firewall in your internet connection. That firewall blocks the route from your computer to the social media sites. The VPN app creates a safe tunnel going through that firewall. Now you have a safe route to visit the social media sites.

Normally I don’t like to use VPN because it slows down my Wix. I only use VPN as the option of the last resource. But if it works for you, then use it anyways.
