Simplify Your Wix Blog: Remove Members and Login

“Wix blog members and login are totally unnecessary.”

I get that comment quite often from people who migrate from WordPress to Wix. I take a look at a WordPress blog. WordPress doesn’t have member areas for random strangers by default. This lack of functionality is good because it simplifies the blog management a great deal.

There is a way to remove members and hide login in Wix Blog. In case you are looking for a way to simplify your Wix blog, you will find the solution in the below instruction.

How to remove members from a Wix blog?

Members (or the member area) are not a mandatory feature of Wix blog. Wix blog will function well after you remove the member area.

Steps to remove members

  1. Click Menus & Pages icon
  2. Click Member Pages’s Actions icon
  3. Click Delete Member’s Area

How to hide “Login / Sign up” in Wix blog?

I researched a lot on this issue. Unfortunately there is no way to delete “Login / Sign up” button. The button allows the blog owners and contributors to update the blog content without login to Wix Editor.

However, you can hide the button. I think this is an acceptable solution. Out of sight, out of mind.

Steps to hide login on Blog page

  1. Jump to Blog page
  2. Select the Blog area
  3. Click Settings button
  4. Select Display menu
  5. Click Blog Menu
  6. Uncheck Login/sign up button

What does “Login / Sign up” do without members?

The “Login / Sign up” button continues to exist after you delete the member areas. So what does the button do without members?

I tested it out. And the result is, you still can login or sign up an account on Wix blog. However, if you are the blog owner, blog writers, or blog editors, you have the ability to change the blog post content once you login. Otherwise, you can only read the blog posts like other visitors on the site.

Take a look at the screenshots below. The first screenshot displays the “Create a Post” button. In this case, the blog owner logins. The second screenshot is the result after some stranger logins. You no longer see the “Create a Post” button.

What cannot Wix blog do without members?

There must be a reason for Wix to add a member area to Wix blog. If you delete it, what troubles will you get?

If you ever have that thought, you are a deep thinker. There are obvious functionalities the member area adds to the blog. For example, you have the ability to grant blog post access to a few members. Or you can build a community where the blog members can interact with the others.

Perhaps the important hidden benefit brought by the member area is the author bio. Normally you don’t see author bio in each blog post. The visitors click on the author. Then they are redirected to the author’s About page. And that About page is part of the member area.

Therefore, the moment you remove the member area in Wix blog, you say “good bye” to the author bio feature.

Conclusion

You can delete member areas in Wix blog. But you cannot delete “Login / Sign up” button. You simply hide the button.

Also, keep in mind that your Wix blog cannot display the author bio without members. If this author bio is important to you, you should keep the member area. .
