Insert PDF File To Wix Store Product Description

I had a conversation with an online store owner the other day. He told me a secret which helps him make thousands of dollars online.

His secret is to offer a downloadable PDF file on every product page. The PDF contains useful information about how to improve life by using the products. Any customer can click the link on the product page to download the PDF file.

It’s a very good idea. But Wix doesn’t let you attach a PDF file to a product description. So I asked the guy and figured out the workaround.

First, you upload the PDF file to your site. Once the upload completes, you can access the PDF file from any product page by clicking the PDF file URL. So the next step is to insert the URL to the product description.

1. Upload PDF file to Wix site

Before performing this step, make sure you have the PDF file ready. The file should have your store name and logo mark on each page. So that no one else can use your PDF file on their stores.

Follow the steps below to upload PDF file to Wix Site

1. Click Media icon
2. Click Upload Media
3. Click Upload from Computer
4. Select the PDF file
5. Wait until the upload complete
6. Click the PDF file
7. Click the … icon
8. Click Copy URL
9. Close the Media Window

2. Insert the PDF file link to the product description

The last step is to paste the PDF link/URL to the product description. I suggest you try to sell the link. Otherwise no one will click on it. 

I demonstrate the point in the following example. You tell your visitors that the PDF file has a lot of wonderful tips which helps solve their problems, and click on the link to download the PDF file. Then your visitors are more likely to click on the link. If you only write “Click here to download the file”, no one will click.

The steps to Insert PDF file link to product description

1. Click Manage Products button
2. Click on the Name of the product
3. Insert the PDF file URL to the download text in the description box 
4. Click Save

3. Test downloading PDF file

It’s always a good idea to test your system and find out the errors before your customers. So let open your product page and try to download the PDF file. It’s a success if you open the PDF file without any issue.

4. Use PDF file to sell more

In the e-commerce business, the more value you can give, the higher price you can charge. Obviously your physical product has value. But the intangible things like a free PDF file also have values.

If there are many online stores out there selling similar products as your and their prices are low, the PDF file is a good way to make your store stand out. Just make sure you add very useful information to the PDF files, and let your customers download the PDF files for free.
