How To Build Appointment Booking System For Your Wix Site
If you are tired of answering the phone calls all day to set up appointments, you should look into booking functionality on Wix.
I built a few appointment booking websites for my clients. All of them are very happy. Mainly because they now automate the whole appointment booking process. They have more time to make more money and relax.
And building an appointment booking system on Wix isn’t complicated at all. If you want a simple, low cost, and build-it-yourself online appointment booking website, the instruction below will show you how.
1. Add Wix bookings to your Wix site
Wix website doesn’t have an appointment booking feature by default, even though the functionality does exist. You have to add that functionality to your site. The steps below show you how to add Wix Bookings to your site.
- Click Add Apps icon
- Search for Wix Bookings
- Click Wix Bookings
- Click Add To Site
2. Get a google account
The integration between Wix and Google works very well. Also, Google provides the best email service and business tools out there. You will have much less hassle if you have a Google account to run your online business. That is why I always recommend my clients to use Google.
In the appointment booking business, your time is your money. And your calendar is the most important tool to manage your time. But if you have multiple calendars, it becomes a nightmare to combine all of them. So you should use one and only one calendar for your business.
3. Sync google calendar with Wix
So you have a Google Calendar to keep track of your business. The next step is to sync this calendar with Wix so that new appointments booked on Wix will show up on your calendar. Follow the steps below.
- Navigate to the site Dashboard
- Click Booking Calendar
- Click Calendar
- Click More Actions
- Select Sync Google Calendar
- Enter Google mail
4. 1-on-1 vs multiple participants service
When you create a service on Wix Bookings, it asks you what type of service you would like to create. Then it shows you two options: 1-on-1 or multiple participants. What are the differences between those two?
You choose 1-on-1 when the service involves one staff and one client. If you want to teach an online class for example, you choose multiple participant service because it requires one staff but multiple participants.
5. Buffer Time
Remember back in the days in high school, you only have 5 mins to run from one class to the other. The two classrooms were the entire hallway apart. And you barely made it ontime.
That 5 mins is an example of the buffer time between appointments. Too little buffer time and you always feel stressed and in a hurry. Too much buffer time and you waste too much time which would have made you more money.
What is the proper amount of buffer time? I would say it is 15 to 20 mins. A psychological study has shown that the human brain needs about 15 to 20 mins to concentrate on a task at hand. Also 15 to 20 mins is enough time to wrap up your section with a customer nicely. Avoid making your customers feel like they don’t get enough care from you.
6. Set up booking service for appointments
At this point you have done enough preparation. Now follow the below steps to create your first booking service.
- Click Bookings icon
- Click Manage Services
- Click 1-on-1 option
- Enter the Service Title
- Select Session Duration
- Add the Buffer Time
- Enter the price per session
- Click Save
