2 Simple Ways to Add Videos to Wix Blog

I chatted with my client for over two hours yesterday. I felt almost impossible to explain the visual effect to him. Words do have its limit.

There are certain types of content that videos are a better choice for. If you happen to have those kinds of content in your blog, and have the videos, you must insert those videos to your posts. I guarantee you will get more page views.

This article will show you two methods to add videos to your Wix blog posts. It also tells you some cool tips to make your videos better.

1. How to embed a Youtube video to Wix blog post

Youtube is the best place to host and publish your videos. Technically speaking the video loading speed is super fast. You can upload an indefinite amount of videos to Youtube for free. Your web hosting (Wix, WordPress, etc.) will never offer such a deal.

Plus, some people on Youtube will see your videos, then come to your sites. Therefore, your site will get some traffic from Youtube.

That is why I strongly recommend you to upload your videos to Youtube first. Then embed those videos into your Wix blog. If you have no idea how to do it, the video and the instruction below will help you out.

Steps to embed a Youtube video to post

  1. Click Edit button on blog post
  2. Click video icon on blog post
  3. Copy the Youtube video link
  4. Paste the Youtube  link

Now you know how to add videos (from Youtube or from your computer) to Wix Blog. I know you cannot wait to try it out. But don’t leave yet. Because the section below has some good tips on how to use videos effectively on your blog.

3. Tips to use videos effectively on Wix blog

3.1. Let your reader know there is a video

It’s not important to mention your video when your blog post is short. Your readers will see it anyways. However, when you have a lengthy blog post, and you place your video deep down in the post, your readers unlikely see it.

In that case, you must let your readers know there is a video. You do so by adding (Video) in the headers of your post. Or mention the video in the first few paragraphs of the post.

3.2. Place the videos close to the sub-headers

Most people are visual learners. They prefer videos to texts. If you let your readers see the videos first, you will keep their attention on the post much longer. That is why the beginning of each section, or near the subheaders, is the best place to insert a video.

3.3. Use texts to make the video content more clear

Video content has a deadly disadvantage. It moves too fast. The viewers don’t have enough time to think and understand the idea before the video moves on to the next one.

For example, I watched a video teaching coding yesterday. The teacher had an interesting personality. I enjoyed the video. But he typed his codes and moved on so fast. I was lost after a few minutes.

Therefore, you should write some texts under the video to summarize the video content. Or to explain the idea more clearly if the video fails to do so.

Conclusion

Adding videos to Wix blog posts is easy. To embed a Youtube video to your blog post, you simply copy and paste its link. If you have a video on your computer, you upload the video to Wix first, then you add it to your post. Also, don’t forget the video tips above.
